The Yellow Kid circa 1897 in New York American

Richard Outault produced the first comic character "The Yellow Kid" in March of 1897 in the New York American owned by William Randolph Hearst. "The Yellow Kid" was used by Hearst to start a war with Spain. The famous refrain from Hearst was, "You supply the pictures, and I will supply the war." Therefore, comics were the cause of the coined term; "Yellow Journalism" . "Yellow Journalism" and comics came into existence at the same time.

Andy & Howard

Howard "followed his rainbow" when he goes to live on St. Benedict's island in the Caribbean. When he returns he says, "I guess I just followed it to the wrong end. My pot of gold is right here in Mayberry."
