My Comic Books & Big Apple Comics of Amarillo

DC Section | Marvel Section | Ducks (Disney) | Gold Key & Misc. (Non-Disney)

This is Kit's Silver Age Comics.

My office about 1.9 Megs Avi (video file). This was my first attempt at video & I probably should have shaved & thought of something clever to say, but it is what it is, a first lame attempt with a new toy. I have always wanted to remake the video when my office is more organized, but as of today, it is still a mess.

Pretty impressive, Huh? This actually looks pretty good. I can find any of thousands of comics in minutes. Sometimes, I have to get out of my chair. The walls are covered with comics & posters. There are over 30 boxes in this room. I have put up over 25 boxes on the web. More than half are ten & twelve cent comics. I also have an Atlas on the wall. I used to put pins in all the countries that have visited my site. I ran out of pins.

When I started this web site over 3 years ago, I never thought that I would have as many as a thousand visitors a day. It has given me a very swelled head, but more importantly it has given my comic collection credibility. I would show a comic to my Mom & Dad & tell them it was worth $50. I know my Mom would smile & say "That's nice.", but I know she was thinking that it just amounts to more clutter. More stuff to throw away when I come to my senses. My Dad on the other hand would say "That's nice.", but he would be thinking that I had wasted money that would best be placed in the bank. To be honest, some of the biggest fights I had with my parents, were not over something they said, but what I thought they meant. That is my problem not theirs. Of course, I did not know it at the time. Anyway, sending my comics all over the world for what I said my comics are worth impresses them both & I am a bit surprised myself.

Big Apple Comics

Thanks to Big Apple Comics, I have been able to offer a lot of comics that I do not have. The owner Ed, lets me put up just about anything he has for sale in his store. This was a relief to me because, the only negative e-mails that I have received, were that I did not have enough Marvel comics. Ed has a great set of silver age Marvels and DC comics.

Big Apple has a large selection of comic book preservation supplies. Boxes, Backing Boards, Comic Albums, Comic Album Sleeves, and Dividers. If you are in need of comic supplies let me know & I will be happy to tell you specifics. All comics are shipped in a comic bag with a backing board. Generally, a hundred bags & boards will cost about $15 a short box with two dividers an additional $5.

Big Apple has a large selection of comic books from the 1970's, 80's & 90's. Over 20,000 comics in stock.

This is my first attempt to explain why I wasted so much time on this web site. My purpose & resolve seem to fluctuate over time.

Purpose

To put my comic collection on the web and possibly sell a few comics and have a little fun. Collecting comics should be fun. I like going through used book stores sorting through stacks of comics looking for a pearl among the swine. I have not found many pearls but I can usually find a good science fiction book. It is the searching that is fun.

One time I found an old Shock Suspense Story crumbling to dust in a zip lock bag marked at $50. Just to have little fun I offered what it was worth, about fifty cents. They were so overwhelmed by my offer they raised the price to seventy five dollars. I thought haggling went the other way. But, fun was had by all.

Comic book conventions are the best. You can find some really good deals. On the down side there is so much that after a while you can not tell a bad deal from a good deal. Key comics always command a premium price. What is the purpose of this enormous web page? To have fun. By the time I am finished, my collection will be more organized than it has ever been. And even if I do not sell any comics, I will have fun.

I did sell comics through the Comic Buyers Guide. I was even awarded the, customer service award for 1994, the year I sold comics by placing ads at thirty five dollars an ad. I now have an ad that would cost thousands of dollars and would take up most of an issue in the CBG. The trouble is there are thousands of web sights about comics. I wish I could find more web sights like mine because I like to look at other collections. I can understand why there are not many web sights like mine. I have hundreds of files spread over two web servers with hundreds more to go. Do not get me wrong there are a lot of good web sights but this web sight is my vision.
