Detective #1 begins in March 1938 Slam Bradley & Spy by Siegel & Shuster (of Superman fame). Detective does not reach it's zenith until the introduction of Batman in Detective #27 in 1939. Detective is still in publication today.

DC publishes Detective Comics #27 introducing Batman by Bob Kane & Bill Finger. Motion Picture Funnies Weekly( a black & white movie theater giveaway that featured Submariner) is published. Marvel Comics comes out with the Human Torch & Submariner reprint with color added.

Opie finds a baby
