Crime SuspenStories
EC an Entertaining Comic
Crime Suspense Stories (note: the I am intentionally misspelling Crime SuspenStories because most people would be looking for Crime Suspense Stories and Crime Suspence Stories. My favorite misspelling.). Crime Suspense Stories is one of those titles that is steeped in comic book history. If it were not for Crime Suspense Stories and other EC comics the Comic Code Authority might not have come into existence. The Comic Code Authority came into existence in 1954 when Fredric Wertham's book Seduction of the Innocent blamed comic books for the juvenile delinquency problems of the day (it could not be computer games back then). The Comic Code Authority was the Comic industry's way of censoring itself and taking away EC's livelihood. The only EC comic to survive the Comic Code Authority was Mad, which was converted to a magazine format, so that it would not be bound by the Comic Code Authority at all. Can you believe that Crime Suspense Stories was the topic for discussion in the halls of Congress? Anyway, if you are wondering why the Comic Code Authority came into being look at the covers of Crime Suspense Stories and see what all the fuss was about.
Crime SuspensStories begins with Crime Suspense Stories #1 in October of 1950 and ends with Crime Suspense Stories #27 in March of 1955.

These titles are very punny (okay, so I used one too). They would be lame, if they were not about such gruesome stories.
