DC Silver Age LogoAquaman and The Atom DC Silver Age Logo

Aquaman is a Silver Age creation, of course some may say he is a rip off of Sub-Mariner. Aqua-Man begins with Aquaman #1 in January of 1962 and ends with Aquaman #63 in August of 1978(note: publication dates of all comics are about three months out of whack. All the comic publishers always put a publication date later than the actual date. This was to let the customers believe that a comic, three months old, had just come out.)

The Atom was a recreation of a golden age Hero (I do not use Super-Hero because the golden age Atom was a small man that was strong.) See Showcase #34(introduction & origin of the Silver Age Atom) for more details. The Atom begins with The Atom #1 in June of 1962 and ends with The Atom #38 in August of 1968

The Yellow Kid circa 1897 in New York American

Richard Outault produced the first comic character "The Yellow Kid" in March of 1897 in the New York American owned by William Randolph Hearst. "The Yellow Kid" was used by Hearst to start a war with Spain. The famous refrain from Hearst was, "You supply the pictures, and I will supply the war." Therefore, comics were the cause of the coined term; "Yellow Journalism" . "Yellow Journalism" and comics came into existence at the same time.
